Chai Masala (Tea with masala), loose

Chai tea is one of life's great pleasures, that beind said, Chai Tea is absolutely a redundancy. Chai = Tea, so we’re, er, selling Tea Tea here. It’s darn delicious, although it’s really Chai (tea) with a masala (spice blend) added. In this case, our Chai has ginger, cardamom, black pepper, and cloves in it. All are organic and all but the ginger are fairly traded, as well.

Simmer a heaping teaspoon of the tea in 5 ounces of water for about 5 minutes. Add 2-4 ounces of milk ans bring back to hest, then strain. Drink in good health!

This Chai contains highest quality organic ingredients: fairly traded Assam & Ceylon teas, organic cardamom, organic crystallized ginger, organic cloves, and fairly traded, organic black peppercorns.

We blend all of our teas by hand in our shop in Seattle. We use only the finest teas, ones that we've consumed ourselves and shared with others, so we know they're fresh and delicious.

Please pick from the drop-down menu to the right which size you'd like. The tea comes in a moisture sealed, lined, zip top bag. 3 ounces makes about 20-22 cups.

Directions:
For a more traditional chai, simmer a heaping teaspoon of tea and spices in a saucepan with 6 ounces of water for 5 minutes, then add 2-3 ounces of milk (& any desired sugar) and bring back up to the briefest simmer. Pour through a sieve or tea strainer into teacups.
For quick chai, boil water then, for each person, pour 7 ounces of water over 1 heaping teaspoon of tea and spices. Let steep for 5 minutes, pour through a tea strainer or sieve into cups. Add milk and sugar to taste. Enjoy!
However you make it, don't forget to eat the crystallized ginger. It's delicious after steeping (or before, but then you wouldn't have the flavor in your tea).
